09/21/09 — Congratulations to Taylor Pitts for being a 2010 National
Merit Semifinalist. Taylor is in his 7th year as an orchestra member and plays
violin in our Chamber orchestra; he is also an orchestra officer. Approximately
16,000 National Merit Semifinalists were announced on Sept. 16 in the 55th
annual National Merit Scholarship Program. These academically talented high
school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 8,200
National Merit Scholarships, worth more than $36 million, that will be offered
next spring. Congratulations to Taylor and his family on this enormous
accomplishment; we are so proud to have you as a member of the Mustang
Orchestra.
