05/18/09 - CONGRATULATIONS SONYA YUN!

Congratulations to Sonya Yun who has been named the 2009 Pearce High School Salutatorian! Sonya started 4th grade at Bowie Elementary after moving to Dallas from South Korea. She quickly proved herself as an academic leader and talented artist. Her award-winning artwork has been displayed in the State Capitol.

 

Sonya is a member of the Chamber Orchestra, principal violinist, and two-time all-state pianist. Additional achievements have included being Math Club President, a member of the National Honor Society and the National Society of High School Scholars. In her free time, Sonya volunteers at HealthsouthRehabilitation Hospital. She will attend NYU University this fall and concentrate her studies in accounting and law.

05/18/09 -- The RISD Excellence in Education Foundation has announced their 2009 Scholarship recipients, which include students from all four RISD high schools. "We work all year to provide these scholarships to deserving students in RISD," said Elizabeth Hart, President & CEO. We consistently and with pleasure look for funding to make it possible for students to attend college. They are our future. We need to invest in them!"

Among the 2009 recipients is Ghianda Becerril of Pearce High School, who was awarded the Katie Richards Memorial Scholarship.  Congratulations, Ghianda!

05/11/09 -- Congratulations to April Chow, Taylor Pitts, Heberto Morales, Juan Luna, Kelty Barrett, Philip York, and Lindsey Budde for making the JJ Pearce President's Round Table 2008-2009 Honor Roll.

04/27/09 -- Congratulations to Pearce Orchestra members who performed at the Richardson Chamber Music Festival on April 25 at Richardson High School.

Students who earned a Superior rating of "one" on their solos and ensembles were Ethan Abels, Ghianda Becerril, Emi Soda, Taylor Pitts, Carly Cowen, Jonathan Myers, Drew DeCrescenzo, Parker Blackman, Travis Kannarr, Alex DeCrescenzo, Kathlynn Todd, Faraz Damghani, Elissa Moss, Mere Rosales, and Jessica Weidler.

Additionally, several students earned Honor Awards (higher than the Superior rating): Meghan Guajardo, Hannah Park, Anna Park, Alan Lu, Parker Blackman, Leigh Kellner, Romel Shearer, Duffy Hogan, Taylor Piske, Sonya Yun, and Kaitlin Valentine.

Congratulations to all of these students on their excellent performances!
